Politics play an important part of what
is going on in the “Labor Movement” today. Much of what
governs our ability to represent workers starts out at the
union hall, but is made law by our member’s involvement in
the “political process”. Being active in politics can be
rewarding to our members, as they will benefit most when
pro-labor candidates are elected. Please, take an active
part in this process to ensure a legislature that is
considerate of your needs. If asked to volunteer, answer the
call and give what time you can to this worthy cause.
Local 554 encourages its members to
also campaign for positions in local government such as;
City Council, School Board, Planning Boards, as well as
Non-Profit Agency Boards and Service Organizations/Clubs.
